Lavrion Main Port

Lavrion Main Port is a historic maritime hub located in southeastern Attica, Greece, with a legacy dating back to the Bronze Age (3200 BC).

Originally renowned for its ancient silver mines that funded the Athenian naval fleet, the port has evolved into a modern gateway to the Cyclades islands.

The port was significantly modernized in the 1860s-1880s to support the mining industry and underwent further upgrades for the 2004 Olympic Games.

Today, Lavrion serves as a multifaceted facility accommodating commercial fishing, ferry services, charter yachts, and cruise ships. Its strategic position approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Athens and 37 kilometers from Athens International Airport makes it an ideal departure point for island-hopping adventures in the Aegean Sea, particularly to destinations like Kea, Kythnos, and the broader Cyclades archipelago. The port combines its rich archaeological heritage with contemporary marina facilities, offering sailors convenient access to provisions, repairs, and services while maintaining the authentic character of a working Greek harbor.

  • Mooring Type: Stern-to mooring with mooring lines available on the town quay. Berths are available on both sides of the L-shaped mole when approaching the main port area. Do not use your anchor when mooring at the town quay.

It is situated outdoors at the main entrance, mounted on a marked metal stand inside a protective cabinet. The device is available for public use year-round, though it is secured with a lock.   • Fuel Station: The port does not feature a stationary fueling quay for yachts; instead, all refueling is conducted via authorized mini tanker trucks that provide direct service to the vessel at its berth. Note: It is mandatory to consult with your charter company regarding the specific refill policy, as most contracts require the vessel to be returned with a full tank verified by the base staff. Marina Facilities and Layout

Lavrion main port (the town quay in Lavrio) is a busy mixed-use harbor with ferries, fishing boats and many charter fleets; for visiting yachts there are roughly ~200 berths along the quay with ~3–5 m depths, typically stern-to, and water & shore power on the pedestals (sanitary facilities are limited or provided via temporary containers). Fueling is by tanker truck arranged by base staff rather than a fixed fuel dock.

Public sanitary facilities are provided in the form of clean container units located near the main Port Authority office on the eastern side of the harbor. Major charter operators along the L shaped mole also maintain private restroom facilities for the exclusive use of their clients during the check in and check out periods
